Kinati River Overflows Its Banks

Because of the recent heavy rains, the Kinati River - which flows right through Torit, about two blocks from the main road - has over flowed its banks and flooded nearby lowlands for about a week now. The photo above shows the water at the level of the bridge that connects the neighborhoods on the far side with the center of town. Residents there have had to wade through waist deep water to cross. The ground around the mango trees below is usually dry.
