Mercy House Gets a New Look... And Visitors

Mercy House got a bit of a new look this week with the help of a series of banners I brought back with me from the US when I returned last month. It took us a little while to figure out how best to hang them so they would be visible and help to communicate the purpose of the place. We ended up having them sewn along the top and bottom to be able to insert thin metal rods so that the banners would hang smoothly and be easily readable from the street. Special thanks to Straub Brewery of St. Marys, PA (my home town) for donating the banners, to my mom (chair of the board), to my brother Bill (the president) and Zeke in the print shop for making this possible.







It's so hot in Sudan that even the donkeys look for shade,... and found some on the porch of Mercy House. We were all pretty startled a week ago Wednesday when during our afternoon catechism study group two donkeys who apparently were having a quarrel actually entered the meeting room. It did enliven us a bit, though, and helped us resume our study a little more alert than before.
