Two Special Prayer Intentions

I'm asking for your prayers for two important events that will take place this week.

First, on Tuesday, March 17, Pope Benedict XVI will travel to Cameroon, in western Africa; later in the week on Friday, March 20, he will continue on to Angola in southern Africa, returning to Rome on Monday, March 23. His visit will focus on preparation for the Special Synod of Bishops for Africa, relations with Islam and the promotion of women. While the Holy Father's apostolic journey will not bring him close to Sudan, it has significance for the Church throughout Africa. Please pray for God's blessing and the Holy Father's safety on this trip.

Second, on Thursday, March 19, the Solemnity of St. Joseph, I will be conducting a Lenten Day of Recollection for Priests of Diocese of Torit on the theme of "St. Paul and the Priesthood." Please pray that this will be a day of grace and renewal for these men who serve the Church under extremely difficult conditions.
