On November 29 I made my debut on the Diocese of Torit's Radio Emmanuel with a prerecorded homily for the First Sunday of Advent. The following week I began a twice-weekly series entitled "Know Your Faith," based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church. It will run for about 20 weeks. Yes, those are painted cardboard egg cartons stapled to the wall.
On my way back into town from the radio station I passed St. Theresa's Primary School. Even after more than a year in Africa, it still amazes me to see students and teachers in overcroweded schools packed into every available square inch of shade for class under a tree on a searingly hot day. The entire group will shift with the shadow as the sun moves across the sky.
