In light of the critical situation that continues to intensify in Darfur as a result of the recent expulsion of relief organizations by the Khartoum government, and concerns for the future welfare of the entire country of Sudan in light the ICC arrest warrant for President Omar al Bashir, we wanted to encourage a response of solidarity and prayer. So, with the help of the artistic talents of Rosann Mucciolo, we designed this simple prayer card. On the front is a reproduction of an actual photo of St. Bakhita. On the back is a brief biography and an unofficial English translation of the Latin prayer for the celebration of her liturgical feast. St. Bakhita is a native of Darfur and a daughter of Sudan. The poignant compassion expressed on her face assures us that she continues to pray for her people and her homeland. Let us join our prayers to hers for the wellbeing of endangered Darfuris and a just and lasting peace in Sudan.
(The prayer card is designed to be printed in a 3" x 5" format)
