The following are some excerpts from an evaluation by the local coordinating committee of the Bread of Life Eucharistic Youth Retreat that took place in Narus over Pentecost weekend. Br. Augustine Lokoro, who headed up the committee, delivered it and shared it with the team just before they left. It is transcribed as literally as possible.
Adoration hours was recognized in such away that though the Youth persevere all the conditions like coldness and Mosquitoes bites within the Church compound, they had at least gained some changes of their lives especially when participants were touching our Lord Jesus. There were overwhelmed joys and a great pleasure among the retreafints due to the presence of Missionaries who tirelessly struggled all the ways upto Narus (Sudan).
lt was strongly recommended by committee that, such seminar like this Retreat was applicable and the Youth took in regard by saying that the Retreat really helped them to grow spiritually. And they expected more and more seminars like this to happen after they have accepted this to be deeply rooted in their souls and minds for the proclamation of the Gospel of God to prevail all the world. The Youth also agreed that every last Friday of the Month, the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament should be continued not only within Narus but also outside the bush chapels such as Mogos, Lolim and others villages' prayer centers.
The committee also made a request for financial suppport for girl students studying in Narus, for chairs, and a small sound system.
A priest also stopped by the other day to tell me how ecstatic the people of Lowoi were over our visit. It really touched and encouraged them that missionaries from the US would come to visit their small village. They were so moved by what they experienced that they said that God had landed in their village during the days we were there. They were particularly inspired by the video on St. Bakhita, one of their own daughters of Sudan who became a saint.
