| Flat tire repair in Hiyala |
Last Friday Dennis, Maynor, David and Peter (two Sudanese youth from our group) and I set out from Torit in the morning towards Isohe, where we were to pick up a second vehicle for the visiting mission team. We didn’t go far before the adventure began, though, in the form of a flat tire. We changed it for the spare and had the regular tire repaired in Hiyala, a town at the junction where we had to veer off for Ishoe.

In Isohe they are preparing for the youth retreat that will take place there the weekend after next. We’ve had to do some adjustments, as neither the primary school nor the secondary school has enough food supplies to fully reopen this semester. As they try to figure out the best way to respond to this situation, we plan to open the retreat to the community.
While I Isohe I had the joy of watching this blind catechist teach local children their catechism in the form of chanted verses. He was very animated and kept the children’s attention.

On our way out of Ishoe the adventure continued. One of our vehicles got stuck in the mud, and we were able to use the electronic winch on the Mary Mobile for the first time to pull it out. We continued on our way to Narus.
