The nefarious volcanic ash cloud has struck again. It closed several airports in Europe for a day, including Amsterdam, through which all the members of our visiting team were scheduled to travel. So, instead of nine team members arriving last night, only three made it. They continued on to Sudan today. Another arrived this morning, but not in time to join those flying to the border. He'll travel on Friday - hopefully - with two others who arrive on Thursday evening. That's if an extra seat opens on the local airline, with whom we had to reschedule most of the team's flight as well. The friars travelling from New York will arrive on Saturday evening, and I'll fly to the border with them on Monday morning.
Between our team already in Sudan and those who have just arrived we have enough people to go ahead with the Bread of Life retreat in Narus this weekend. The situation there, though, is similar to that of Isohe: the schools are not sure how long they will be able to remain open because of limited food supplies. We've opened the retreat to local youth as well, and last night - speaking by satellite phone - Maynor told me they had a very energetic song practice.
